Are Dental Clinics Good For Low-Income Families?
Question: I have no dental insurance and my four year old son should see a dentist soon since he has yet to see one. I been thinking about going to a local dental clinic but I just not sure if he would really get good dental care there. If you have any other suggestions that could help me with my son dental care can you please advise. I tried to find dentist that are willing to offer a low payment plan for their services but have yet to find one willing to work with me on payments.
Reply: Yes a dental clinics can be a good resource for low cost dental care services. Generally they will based their rates on what you can afford to pay. Yet often dental clinics do not make dental appointment it on a first come first serve bases so you could be left sitting their all day and not get seen depending on how busy they are. So make sure to call the dental clinic near you to confirm this with them. Since all are still different and they may have different rules then the norm. Dental school work this way too so that too may be an option.
With regards to dental insurance I would say you may want to consider getting a low cost dental HMO insurance plan for yours and your son’s dental care needs. Dental HMO insurance plans are the more affordable insurance option that will help to greatly reduce your dental care cost.
